Aviation Nation 2010 turned out to be another great air show here at Nellis. I still regard it as one of the top 5 air shows in the US. The weather was bright sunshine and cool temps. Great for getting shots and enjoying the event. The USAF Thunderbirds put on their final shows of the year here at their home base. Other flying displays were also quite impressive. The F-22 Raptor put on a powerful display as well as the F/A-18F Super Hornet. A special treat was enjoyed by all when the QF-4E from Holloman AFB. N.M. participated in the mock Vietnam air war scenario. The Phantom also put on a flying display and participated in the USAF Heritage flIght with an F-86 and F-22A . Very Sweet. The static displays were better than expected. Of course all of Nellis' fighters, A-10 and Pave Hawk helicopter were there but, I was excited to see 3 RAF Typhoons there as well. A month earlier Typhoons were at MCAS Miramar and now 3 were here at Nellis. The air show gods are looking down on us. Again I got several good shots of the Typhoons. Too bad they didn't fly. Also in the statics were Navy types. An F/A-18C Hornet, E-2C Hawkeye, EA-6B Prowler and a Top Gun F-5N to be exact. I noticed that the Navy birds show up about every 2-3 years. The MV-22 Ospery was also on static and of course the mighty ageless B-52H BUFF. Along with the UAVs and beautiful Warbirds it made for a great static display. Hooray!!! Always looking forward to the next Aviation Nation in 2011 can't wait. Enjoy the photos !!!
