Flight Test Nation 2009
Edwards AFB, CA. Oct.17, 09
The 1st Flight Test Nation was held at
Edwards AFB on 10/17/09. This is a
new title for the Edwards Open House.
With this  being the 1st  Flight Test
Nation I knew I must attend. There was
not a jet demo team scheduled to
perform. No T-birds no Blues and no
Snowbirds. This did not affect the turn
out for this 1 day air show. Attendance
was overwhelming. Two days worth of
attendance at a 1 day show.
I attended the Edwards Open Houses
in 2003 and 2006.  The highlight of
this show was Tora Tora Tora! the
re-enactment of Pearl Harbor Dec. 7
1941. The flying display also included
the AFFTC  mass fly over. The static
display was pretty good. One bonus
was the 1st F-35 Joint Strike Fighter
(AA-1) on display. There also was an
SR-71 Blackbird on display from the
Edwards Museum. It was freshly
painted in a gloss black scheme. For
warbird fans there was a British Spitfire
on display. This bird looked
immaculate. A Curtiss P-40 Warhawk
was also on the tarmac as well.
I'll always return to Edwards for the
next Air Show. It is still one of the best
Air Shows in the US.
