Rickenbacker :Blast From The Past
                       Aug. '92 Columbus, OH.
The Rickenbacker Air Force Reserve
Base Open House in August 1992 was
quite the air show. I was living in
Columbus, Ohio and Rickenbacker is
right next door. I'd gone to many shows
at Dayton but, this one at
Rickenbacker was really special. A day
before the show I was driving by the
base and noticed this huge white
cargo plane doing fly-bys along the
flight line. It turned out to be an An-225
from the Ukraine. Right then I knew this
air show was going be worth the visit.
As I arrived the next day for the show
I noticed all kinds of really neat aircraft
on display. Not only was the An-225
there but, two Ukraine MiG-29s were
there as well. A single seater and two
seater -UB model both on display.
These two MiG-29s were later featured
in the flying display. Four Tornados
were there, 2 from W. Germany and 2
from the RAF.   Along with a nice
selection of USAF and US Navy aircraft
the static display was indeed
awesome. The flying display had quite
a bit of variety also. From memory and
poor quality demo shots these
performers included a C-5, B-52, F-14,
F-117, MiG-29s and others. The shots
here were taken with my friends 35mm
pocket camera. All I had was a little
Kodak 110 camera so this was quite a
leap for me as camera technology was
concerned. Only if digital would have
been available then.   Enjoy the
Photos. Copyright  2012        Note:
Sorry for some of the bodies in some
shots.
