I've been a travelling airplane nut this
past couple of months. After a trip to
Palmdale, CA. last month I ventured to
San Diego in September. The cool
breeze from San Diego Bay was a nice
relief from the desert heat. Our stay at
the San Diego Marriott-Marina Hotel
was really nice. (A plug for my
employer)
The USS Midway is a superb museum.
A good variety of displays. Most are of
Vietnam Era aircraft. The F-14,
F/A-18,S-3 and a couple WW2 planes
being the exception. An F9F Panther
and Cougar represent the Korean
War. All of the aircraft are kept in
immaculate condition. Very Nice!
This museum is a must see if you are
in San Diego. It's well worth the 17.00
admission fee to spend a few hours on
the flight deck and the hangar deck
which includes a cafe and gift shop.
I did not check-out the mid-deck or the
super structure areas but i will next
time I visit this awesome carrier.
